9/1/2017: Rashaad Hall

New month, new #wirehousedaily artist! Please join me in welcoming September's artist - Rashaad Hall!

Rashaad is an actor, teaching artist, poet, visual and performance artist in Chicago. He has worked at The Goodman Theatre, Hypocrites Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens, Chicago Slam Works, and Black Ensemble Theatre among others since graduating DePaul (2010) BFA program. He has been nominated for a Joseph Jefferson award with the cast of The Hairy Ape by Eugene O'Neil. Film credits include his guest starring role on Brown Girls a webseries. He is a company member of For Youth Inquiry providing sexual health and wellness forum theatre to students across Chicago with Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health. He is proudly represented by Paonessa Talent Agency.

Rashaad will be presenting a painting a day alongside a quote from one of his favorite novels, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Rashaad says: "With #SiddharthaSeries the aim is to represent the mystical feelings, prophetic legends, and spiritual lyricism of one of my favorite narrative novels through my lens as an abstract artist. Siddhartha is a profound story about a young Indian nobelman named Siddhartha on a quest to find his spiritual truth, who along the way encounters the Buddha himself but chooses not to follow. "

We'll get started with his first work, below. Enjoy this month with Rashaad and the #SiddharthaSeries!

“Govinda wanted to follow him as his friend, his companion, his servant, his spear-carrier, his shadow. Siddhartha was thus loved by everyone. He was a source of joy for everybody, he was a delight for them all.
But he, Siddhartha, was not a source of joy for himself, he found no delight in himself.”
